Literature Text

In the land of dreams, I am a tree.
Under my branches, I've grown fruit and shade.
I give, as only I can.

But how do I grow in this forest?
Where I lay at the feet of the colossi,
Blotting out the sun?

Do not take me for a bitter stump,
I do not begrudge the fruits of your labour
Or mock the pains you surely took.

I only ask that you not scorn me.
I only hope I will not tarry.
Or forget those under my canopy.
I think I finally understand what it means to be under someone else's shadow.

But I'm determined not to be overwhelmed, consumed by envy. I admire you, who have built yourselves up from the years. But I will continue where I left off. I will not forget what I set out to do. And no matter what happens...I just hope I don't forget the people and things that matter.

I had to write this. If no one understands...just as well. Some things are better left unsaid.

Very lovely. This brings to mind one of my favorite songs ("Blood Moon" by Saint Sister). :D (Big Grin)
