Literature Text
Though I lived in one land for many years, I wandered very far
I walked alone in a world of my own making
And I secretly longed for someone to breach the walls of my desolate mind's fortress
While mere mortals may dream of conquest of every kind through any battle,
I have but one reason to draw my fatal blade
And to throw all caution, all fear of death to the winds
The reason is you, my lady
While valiant warriors and loyal vassals pledge their lives
To lords most kind and most cruel
I pledge my being to no one but you, my beloved
It is the silken touch of your gentle hand
It is the world that I see when your eyes meet mine
And it is the strength with which you hold me in your loving embrace
These are the ties that bind me to you
But these bonds feel not like the coldness of chains
Or like the coarseness of ropes, but like the cradle's warmth.
For all that I am willing to do, I only have one request.
Answer me with all your heart and tell me
Will you, my dearest
Let me be your knight in invisible armour?
I walked alone in a world of my own making
And I secretly longed for someone to breach the walls of my desolate mind's fortress
While mere mortals may dream of conquest of every kind through any battle,
I have but one reason to draw my fatal blade

Lancelot
When the night courted the earth in a sacramental serenade
The moon was the sickle of the reaper's blade
And starry lace over the obsidian eve was laid;
Constellations wandered the heavens on an arcane crusade
And riding in his own dark glory was a knight of light and passion wrought.
His passage was heralded by the heavens' silent choir
His way was lit by the seraphs' tears of fire
But all the prestige in the world would not quell his desire;
The unfaltering champion Lancelot.
The starlight glittered in his silver-spangled mail
It shined like ivory upon his smooth skin pale
Distinguished against his raven mane, black as bale

This is an updated version of an old poem, written in the summer of 2009.
I wrote my first love poem, The Radiance of Love around May 2009 and had it published in my school's literary magazine. It can be found in my gallery here:

After that, I read a fan-poem by the wonderful which can also be found in her gallery and it inspired me to write this poem.

If you like her poem, be sure to check out her webcomic on this link. It's really awesome:

Not only that but she was gracious enough to offer some feedback on the original poem and pointed out one flaw that seemed to nag at me for such a long time that I edited it twice.
And now, I present the newer version and I hope it flows better and is better than the last one.

EDIT: (15/4/2015)
One of the other lines was changed, sounds closer to the original line.
