Literature Text
For as long as I can remember,
Life has been struggle after struggle.
To succeed, to save my future
I had to try harder, fight harder.
A never-ending personal skirmish between win or lose
But then I met you
And for the first time in ages
I feel something more than desire
More than ambition, more than success
It is you that I feel
And when you approach me,
Your radiance emanates forth
And the feelings I've tried to hide
Lest they distract me from my effort
Come back to the surface again
Whatever feelings I have for you
Or you have for me
Make my hand go slack
And before long the sword I carry
Grows heavy and drops to the floor
The love I harbour for you
And the love that you return
Has left me disarmed and open
And I wouldn't have it any other way

Yet another love poem to submit.
This one was drafted in the spur of the moment in my room on campus. I carried it with me and didn't completely work on it until two months ago.
I thought of how the intensity of someone's love could cause a dedicated worker or even a warrior to lose his will to fight and to drop his guard or his weapon. The same could be said of women who meet their match, mind you.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this poem. If you have any suggestions or comments, I'd love to hear them.

Very poetic and wonderfully composed. Well done.
