Cloud Strife stepped off his motorbike and walked into the town stadium, which flew a banner reading:

Midgar Proudly Presents:

Zack Fair vs. Sephiroth

Sponsored by Shinra Energy Corporation

Hosted at Edge City Stadium

He presented his ticket to the agent at the entrance before he headed into the building. The hallways were dim and lit only by single white lights on the ceiling and at length he wandered into the changing rooms. He walked in and scanned around for any sign of his half-brother.

“Hey, little brother, what are you up to? Shouldn’t you be taking your seat?” a voice resonated behind him.

He turned around just in time to see his half-brother, Zack Fair, who always called him “little brother” despite the fact that they only shared one mother. When Cloud’s dad died at the age of one, his mother remarried and the two boys met. They were rather reluctant at first, but after growing up in Nibelheim they got closer and they formed a resilient bond of close friendship.

Cloud looked at his half-brother with admiration. He really looked prepared for the fight he was about to have with his opponent. His black spiky hair was kept out of his eyes with his traditional headband, and his chest, abs, and arms were well toned and powerfully built from his long training. Cloud thought back to the weeks before when Zack woke up every sunrise to run around the track in Nibelheim. The rest of the day, he would sweat it out with sit-ups, jump roping, practising his kicks and punches with the training shields, and sparring with Cloud. Up until now, he made a name for himself as a kickboxing champion in Nibelheim. Now here he was, ready for the fight of his life.

“Not for another five minutes. Cid should be arriving any minute now,” Cloud replied “Just thought I’d drop in and wish you good luck.”

“Thanks, man. You’re the best.” Zack gave a grateful smile. Just then, Cid Highwind, the boxing promoter who accompanied them on their trip, walked into the room.

“All right, guys. Almost time to start. Cloud, take your seat. I got to talk to Zack a little bit.” Cid said with a toothpick dangling out of his mouth. With that, Cloud nodded and walked out of the room.

As Cloud walked down the corridor leading to the ring, he heard a strange sound emanating from the door next to the changing room. It sounded like something being broken, followed by a fierce shout. He walked to the source of the sound, and opened the door. He peered inside to see a man with long silver hair tumbling down his back. His back was turned to him, so he did not notice the blond man’s stunned expression as he demolished a sawed off tree trunk with a powerful roundhouse kick and a loud yell. Large splinters of wood flew in all directions, littering the floor, and the kick-boxer turned around just in time to notice Cloud staring at what he just did. Their eyes met, and the grey man gave an evil smirk. With that, Cloud shut the door and made his way to the ring.

He scanned the audience before finding his brother at the seat of his corner in the ring. He heard Cid’s voice call out to him.

“Cloud! Take your seat at the corner with your brother. I’ll be in the audience.”

Cloud nodded in affirmation before walking over to Zack, who was sitting down in his seat in the ring. Zack noticed his half-brother’s troubled look and asked him what was wrong.

“Uh…nothing, nothing at all. Just saw something weird. This kick-boxer was really strong. Broke a tree stump with a kick as if it were made of cardboard.” Cloud told him.

Zack whistled in response “Wow. I hope that’s not the one I’m up against.”

Just then, the lights flashed on in the ring, and the announcer walked over to the microphone that was suspended from the ceiling in the middle of the ring. He held the microphone in his hand before clearing his throat to speak.

“Ladies and gentlemen! It’s a great night to be here at the Edge City Stadium in Midgar! With us tonight are two talented fighters, each giving us a taste of their unique talent! In the blue corner, weighing 75 kilos and with a record of 15 wins, no draws, and no losses, a champion hailing from Nibelheim is here tonight to defend his title and to prove his town’s worth in the competitive martial sports scene. Put your hands together for….ZACK FAIR!”

The crowd cheered, putting a smile on Cloud and Zack’s face. Everyone seemed to be on his side. As the cheering subsided, the announcer continued,

“In the red corner, weighing 89 kilos and with a record of 20 wins, 5 draws, and zero losses, Shinra Energy Corporation’s defending champion and prized asset, let’s hear it for…..SEPHIROTH!”

The cheering burst out again, louder this time and with a lot more catcalls. The spotlight shone on the defending champion, giving Cloud an idea of who his half-brother was up against. His smile fell and was wiped off his face as he looked in fear at who his brother was up against. It was none other than the silver-haired man he saw moments ago.
It's finally here, folks. This is the Cloud Strife fan-fiction that I announced and that I was having trouble naming. But after hearing the lyrics from the song "Never Surrender" by Stan Bush from the Kickboxer Original Soundtrack, I came up with a title.

This is my second Cloud Strife fan-fiction for Deviant Art and the first fan-fiction that is not a one-shot. More chapters will be added later on.

I got the idea of making a fan-fic of Cloud as a kickboxing champion after seeing a training scene from the Jean-Claude Van Damme movie "Kickboxer".

Plus, I'm really into martial arts, so it worked out well enough.

Comments and suggestions are appreciated, but please don't flame it with hate comments or say it sucks.

Most importantly:

Cloud Strife, Zack Fair, Cid Highwind, Shinra, and Sephiroth are all (c) of Tetsuya Nomura (Nomura Tetsuya) and Square Enix.

The story is relatively original, although it is loosely based off of "Kickboxer" starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, which was written by both Van Damme and Mark DiSalle

Enjoy!

Oh, no, no. The story technically isn't finished. I kind of forgot to mention that the story is on hiatus. I started this a long time ago, but I kind of ran out of ideas on how to continue. :slamhead:

I might continue the story if I ever get the chance or if I get any ideas soon. :fingerscrossed:
